My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Xena is a warrior. She lost everything and keeps smiling. Xena was well fed and loved in her past life. She is a plump gal. We call those bodies made for comfort. Xena isn't overly motivated by food, but squeakers get her attention. She is easy outside. She likes to watch the yard activities and get some pets from us. Xena needs a new home, one that keeps her for her whole life.

Came in as an owner surrender on 12/6/24

*Adoptions are walk-in 12-6 daily at 2741 S. Western Ave. Chicago, IL

*The building is open 12-7 daily and adoptions end one hour before closing. All visitors 18 and older must have a government issued ID.

*All household members should be present to meet dogs (especially those under 18 and any decision-makers). We recommend and can arrange dog to dog meet and greets for your current dog to meet a potential dog sibling at the shelter. You will need to show proof of up to date rabies vaccination for your dog or dogs.

*Slow, cautious, and appropriate introductions are recommended after you allow time for decompression for the shelter dog.
