My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET AURORA!

This beautiful cat is named Aurora! She joined us at City of Elderly Love after being abandoned outside by her former family and brought to the shelter by a concerned neighbor. She's around 8 years old with plenty of years of adorable sass left to share with a lucky family.

Aurora is basically the best kind of roommate. She's quiet, mostly keeps to herself and picks up after herself. Her only quirk is that she will drink out of the bathtub faucet. Could be worse. Aurora loves a good snuggle session and doesn't mind being picked up but isn't overly pushy about it and is also happy to find her own cozy spot if you're busy or if she's tired of the attention. Occasionally, she'll get "kitty zoomies" and chase a shadow on the wall but other than that, she's a very mellow cat. She's happy to just go with the flow and live a life of leisure. Aurora is currently in foster care with a toy-sized dog and while she will share the couch or bed with her, she doesn't actually care to interact and isn't afraid to give her a few whacks if she gets too close. We haven't seen her around other cats but based on her queen bee-like personality, we think Aurora would be happiest in a home without other pets or with another low-key dog who won't bug her much. She would likely be happiest in a home with older kids.

Aurora has been fully vetted since coming to the rescue including having most of her painful teeth removed. She's been much cheerier and even more laid back since recovering from surgery since now she doesn't have to live with chronic pain and can eat comfortably. Aurora had a few litter box issues after leaving the shelter and adjusting to her foster home but she has not had any since decompressing from the stress.

Aurora is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love. She is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. She is also FIV/FeLV negative. Interested in adopting her? Visit cityofelderlylove.org to complete an online adoption questionnaire or email us at info@cityofelderlylove.org!

More about this rescue

Operating as an independent subsidiary of Citizens for a No-Kill Philadelphia, City of Elderly Love is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue dedicated to saving and enriching the lives of adoptable senior pets in the Philadelphia area. Utilizing volunteer foster homes, City of Elderly Love aims to rescue these animals from potential euthanasia at area animal shelters as well as prevent older animals from entering the shelter-system in the first place, when possible. City of Elderly Love also provides palliative and hospice care when needed. Through creative marketing and community events, City of Elderly Love works to place its adoptable pets into loving adoptive homes.
