My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Adoptable in: MA

Good with dogs: Yes
Good with cats: Unknown
Good with kids: Yes, dog-savvy children
Crate trained: Yes
House Trained: Yes

Rusty is the sweetest, calmest gentleman who’s ready to become a part of your family! His favorite things include full-body leans for hugs/pets, squeaky toys, and deer antlers. Rusty would do well nearly anywhere, as he thrived in a multi-dog house in the suburbs and is currently doing great in the city. He is looking for a home who is excited to continue his training and can shower him with lots of love.

Rusty is a lower medium-energy pup, where he would love to join you on your adventures but enjoys lounging on the couch or his bed all day. He is great with other dogs and plays best with pups who are similar in energy. Because Rusty loves to greet big and small humans alike, he would do best with dog-savvy kids.

He is fully crate-trained and house-trained. Rusty is crated throughout the workday and knows he receives his meals in there. He is crated overnight in there without any issues. Rusty is great about alerting when he needs to go outside to potty. He walks well on leash and enjoys his daily walks around the neighborhood.

Rusty may have long legs, but he is a magician in making himself small as he curls up to snuggle beside you- are you the one for him?

NOTE: Rusty is part of our Foster to Adopt program. He has a few food sensitivities and is therefore on a specially prescribed diet for food. If you decide to take a chance on this handsome boy, you will have the full support of our Medical Team to help you along the way until he is cleared for adoption!

Please Note: All dogs are posted on our website until they are officially adopted. This dog may have other interested adopters in line. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website at www.lasthopek9.org. Last Hope K9 Rescue is licensed with the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources (#0151).

More about this rescue

Our mission at Last Hope K9 Rescue is to save every possible dog we can from being euthanized within high-volume kill shelters throughout the U.S.

As the literal “last hope” of nearly every animal we serve, we work tirelessly to place each one within a stable, loving environment that can act as either their forever home, or the gateway to their forever home. We also strive to ensure that all of our adoptions and foster placements are the optimal fit for everyone involved, including our dogs. This leads to our second goal: enriching human lives through canine companionship. To us, you can’t have one without the other.

Lastly, we promote animal welfare by lobbying important initiatives that both protect and give voice to the voiceless. By fostering an environment of collaboration with other organizations that share our goals, and working together instead of in competition, we find that we accomplish more.
