Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Meet Kvothe, pronounced nearly the same as 'Quothe'. He is named after the main protagonist in Patrick Rothfuss' book, Name of the Wind. Unlike his namesake, Kvothe is fairly shy. He is from an outdoor cat colony and is still adjusting to human attention. He has come a long way since October, but needs to find a patient household and someone that will go at a slow pace with him. He is a beautiful white and orange Manx cat. You will notice his little stub of a tail! Don't worry, he was born that way.
If you are lucky and he allows you to pet him, you will find that Kvothe is extremely soft. He loves butt scratches and has a wonderful purr. He often gets skittish when you start reaching for him, so don't be offended if he zooms off. Over time, he will continue to learn that humans are good.
Kvothe LOVES playing. He is a big fan of wand toys, loves zipping through his cat tunnel, and bats around balls around the room. Playing with him is a good way to get him to open up. Try moving the stick end of a wand toy around to get his attention.
Kvothe's adoptive family needs to do slow introductions to themselves, the house, and any other pets. He should start off in one room and get used to it, then slowly opening up other parts of the house. Too much at once will be bad and he is a good hider. He is untested with dogs and children, but his fosters think he would be terrified of them. He has been fostered with Denna (also at the Cafe Meow) and loves her. Unfortunately, she is indifferent to him. Therefore, they do not need to be adopted together. He should be adopted into a family that has a friendly, confident cat in the home so he has some comfort and someone to teach him the ways.
Take a chance on this shy cat! He is truly wonderful and if you give him love and patience, he is worth the effort.
