My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Katara! Not long ago, this stunning and flashy black German Shepherd was nursing a whopping 13 puppies! When she showed up on someone's porch and gave birth to an entire army of baby shepherds, the kind stranger attempted to sneak this new mama inside. Unfortunately, their plans to care for Katara were intercepted by their landlord who demanded immediate placement for this family...or else.

With Katara's time running low, FFAA opted to agree to take her in even though our facility is not set up to care for animals under 8 weeks or nursing moms. With 13 puppies, still indistinguishable from each other and eyes still closed, Katara waited in our kennels for her foster with whom she spent 6 wonderful weeks.

Katara's foster family made sure that the puppies were growing and getting everything that they needed, but they also made sure that Katara got time to be the young dog she is, playing with her, taking her on walks, and spoiling her.

Because of this we, we have some very helpful information about her:
-Katara LOVES balls; she has very specific favorites that will follow her to her new home. The only time you can find her without her "Brain Ball" in her mouth is when she's using the bathroom or chasing it.
-She's VERY smart and loves to use her intelligence to come up with her own versions of games - if you think you're playing fetch with her, pay attention - she might flip the roles around.
-Although she's a fairly high energy dog, her fosters believed that an average active family who likes to get out and do things with their dogs would be an appropriate placement for her - along with her clear toy drive, she's got a decent food drive (especially for a shepherd) and is very trainable. Teaching her how to settle will be a lifesaver!
-Absolutely no cats :(

Katara's babies have all left the shelter. It's just her now. We think she deserves an extra-special home after all the hard work she put in being a mom. More about this shelter

Faithful Friends Animal Advocates, Inc is a non-profit organization committed to helping our community become a place where animals are treated with kindness and respect. Further, we want to be a voice for the welfare of animals in our community through various avenues.

We fulfill these goals by taking in homeless and vulnerable animals, rehabilitating, vetting, and preparing them for their future home, and ensuring that they are a good fit for those interested. Our goal is longevity - we are thorough when approving applications because we want their next home to be forever.

Our pledge to the animals under our charge knows no time limits. Our no-kill mission means that as long as it takes, we will keep searching for their perfect home. And if during that search, they need to rejoin our care, we welcome them with open arms no matter how long it has been.

People
From our paid staff to volunteers that support us at events and throughout the week, the dedicated and passionate community members that are involved in FFAA's mission are what keep us going. We always welcome new faces! If you are interested or know someone who would like to support our efforts, please contact us. We could not do it without our foster families, dog walkers, kennel cleaners, puppy and kitten socializers, event organizers, artists, chefs - everything we do is a group effort and thanks to the time and effort given freely and faithfully year after year.
