Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Toby is a very happy and calm guy. He is approximately a 7-year-old terrier mix and only 15 lbs. He is content sleeping in his dog bed and even more happy to nap in your lap. Toby loves to give kisses. He is great on walks but prefers them short and sweet. Toby is very level-headed and confident. He can walk by barking dogs with his head held high and can get his business done without getting distracted. He is happy to greet everyone who is interested in saying “Hello.” Sometimes Toby freezes in the down dog position with his butt in the air. It’s very cute and funny. Toby came to POOCH with some dental issues. He has had a full dental workup, cleaning, and had 17 teeth removed! He recovered remarkably well and was in better spirits after all those aching teeth were gone. Toby does suffer from a luxating patella. This is a common condition with small breeds where the kneecap can slide out of place.
When this happens, Toby will favor his back right leg and may need to be carried for a short distance or some rest. At 15 lbs, he’s easily accommodated if he needs a little help. We could see Toby enjoying being in a stroller or wagon with some acclimation. POOCH youth have been practicing some basic physical therapy exercises with Toby every day to strengthen his leg so he can live his best life. They also encourage Toby to use steps to get on and off the couch. Toby has a loving demeanor and would be a great addition to a less active home. He would be happy to greet any guests that come to the house. As such, we feel Toby would do well with children. Toby is not fully potty trained and will need help getting on a regular schedule so he can understand where it is appropriate to do his business.
Characteristics:
Quiet, calm, and confident
Very friendly with humans and other dogs
Walks well ona leash but needs shorter walks
Can relax/chill on his own but prefers to be close to a human companion
Will play with dogs his size
THINGS TO BE AWARE OF
Needs soft food because he has very few teeth.
Toby has a luxating patella and sometimes limps, but does not stop him from jumping on couches and in laps.
