My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet lovable Lucille!
This lively little elf will charm her way right into your heart. She is full of fun and has oodles of love to give! She hasn't always had the best life. But that doesn't bother her in the slightest. We can't wait to get her into a loving home where she will be well taken care of.
She scored high on all her tests! You will want to put her in the top spot on your wish list for a lovable companion.

Here are her highlights:
💗💗💗💗💗
Super sweet personality.
Loving, snuggly, outgoing. Loves people. Great candidate for a family. She enjoys spending all her time with her hoomans.
She will thrive in a home that can offer her companionship and interaction.

💚💚💚💚💚
🐾Easy to walk.
Good manners.
Highly trainable.

💛💛💛💛💛
Neat in her kennel.
She is very motivated to go potty outside. She will thrive in a home that can give her frequent outings during the day. To get her used to the new routine.

🩵🩵🩵🩵
Food motivated.
Training will be a snap when yummy treats are her reward. Since she was not always given enough food and came to us very underweight. We recommend feeding her in a separate area from other siblings so she can enjoy her meal in peace. Food will always be a big deal! She currently weighs 39 pounds. She could use a few more pounds to be her ideal weight.

👍💚🐶 ok with dogs.
👍💚 ok with cats.
👍💚loves people!

Better hurry, Lucille is going to find her hoomans soon! You will want to wrap her up and take her home to usher in the new year with your very special new best friend.

A "meet and greet" is required with all family members and the pet prior to finalizing the adoption application. If someone is adopting a dog and has another dog at home, we also require a "meet and greet" for the dogs as well. All animals in the home must be up to date on vaccinations prior to new pet going home. We do not adopt to people who will keep the pet outside exclusively. We may do a home visit either pre or post-adoption. Animals adopted from us are not be sold or given to another person. More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Wicomico County was started in 1968 by a group of people who wanted to help improve the lives of animals. We have come a long way in our 40+ years! We have a staff dedicated to making sure the animals that come to our doors are loved and protected as they wait for their forever home. Not only are our animals vaccinated, wormed and given flea preventative, we can treat animals that come to us with mange, ringworm, heartworm and pay for animals to be seen by an outside vet should there be a need. We have an on-site spay/neuter clinic that not only is used for our animals but we also offer low cost spay/neuter for animals of the public. We provide emergency boarding for victims of domestic abuse, fire, and medical emergencies. We also have the capability to set up an off-site emergency shelter for people evacuated from their homes. In addition, we have an education program to help teach kids about being a responsible pet guardian. We work with a wide range of rescue groups and our animals have been transported from our mid-Atlantic area throughout the North Eastern United States. Our shelter is an open admission shelter and we will take in approximately 3500 animals this year. We do what we do because of our love for animals and our desire to make a difference in their lives every single day.
