My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This lucky kitty had a complete glow up, and she’s ready to share that with you! She used to be homeless and roaming the streets of South Side until compassionate people were able to grab her and bring her into Trash Cat Rescue.

She is grateful for her new circumstances in life and has so much love and affection to give. Her foster parents named her Ivy because one day her foster dad said “wow she’s clingy like Ivy” and the name stuck. True to her name, this cat just wants to be with her people. She is the definition of a Velcro cat, lap cat, cuddle bug, attention seeker, you name it! She just wants to crawl into your skin and even that is not close enough for her. Ivy knows no strangers - everyone has the potential to be her best friend! Ivy just wants to spend her day snuggling, being petted, napping and purring.

She’s a chatty kitty! She sprints to the door when people come to visit, and greets with friendly meows. She can’t wait for you to sit down so she can hop up and either cuddle next to you or in your lap. She can’t help but show off how much of a professional biscuit maker she is, especially if you’re under a blanket. Ivy loves curling up on a blanket and taking a snooze. She’s also got a great working motor of continuous purrs. She would make a fantastic office companion if you work from home, or she could be a charming reading or movie buddy.

Ivy could potentially share a home with other cats with appropriate introductions. Ivy could also be your only cat (which she probably wouldn’t mind so she doesn’t have to share any attention). We’re not sure how she is with dogs. Ivy has met the foster family’s toddler and was patient and kind with her, so she has the potential do well in a home with respectful children.

Ivy is estimated to be about two years old. She has been spayed, dewormed, flea treated, microchipped, vaccinated, and has tested FIV/FeLV-. She's a sweet cat ready to go to her forever home with people who will give her all of the attention and wet food she craves. Are you her new best friend?

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

Typically we talk a little with potential adopters to find a cat who is a good fit before sharing the application.

2.

Approve Application

We check over the application including checking vet references and doing landlord checks.

3.

Interview

We spend more time chatting with the adopters to specifically go over any questions from the application and details about the specific cat.

4.

Meet the Pet

Potential adopters have a meet and greet with the cat or kitten in the foster home.

5.

Sign Adoption Contract

At the meet and greet, if all goes well, the adoption contract can be signed, the fee can be paid, and the pet can go home!

6.

Pay Fee

7.

Take the Pet Home

Additional adoption info

We try to do our best to make sure we find good fitting, responsible homes, without wasting a lot of our time. Our app has a lot of screening questions which help eliminate potential adopters who might not be serious (they usually just don't return the app), or not a good fit, which is why the in depth interview happens once the app is returned.

More about this rescue

We are a small but dedicated 501c3 nonprofit cat rescue specializing in making one person's garbage kitten another person's forever cat.

Our mission is to reduce feline suffering and overpopulation using a combination of TNR and adoptions. We foster and socialize whenever we have the resources to do so, including behavioral cats and kittens who might otherwise just be candidates for TNR.
