My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hunter's basic bio is below, but we maintain more detailed information about each of our animals on our website, which is also always up to date with animals removed immediately once they are adopted. Please visit Hunter's page on our site (https://www.muddypawsrescue.org/adoptable?dog=008139) to learn even more about Hunter!

Additionally, please note that the breed listed for Hunter is just our best guess based on the dog's physical features. We cannot make any guarantees about the accuracy of our guesses.

Hunter is a bright, energetic boy who’s looking for his forever home after experiencing a lot of change in a short amount of time. So we're really hoping his next home is truly his forever home and he can get the security that he needs. He’ll need a family that can be patient with him.

Hunter is incredibly smart! He came to foster care knowing commands like "sit", "down", "paw", and "stay". We've taught him “crate”, "leave it" and are working on “settle”, as well as strengthening his “stay” (for longer periods of time or when we're out of sight). He's super smart and eager to learn. Hunter responds very well to praise and is eager to please. He is easily excitable and distracted, so he needs a calm but assertive pet parent who is excited to help him continue learning and getting better.

Hunter’s energy level is off the charts, and his zoomies are legendary! He’s knocked over things in his excitement but is learning to re-enter the house calmly with a prolonged sit/down/stay. He needs a lot of daily exercise—currently enjoying about three hours of walking and some backyard romps. Hunter isn’t a fan of puzzles or independent mental games but thrives on training sessions throughout the day.

He’s deeply attached to his people and struggles when separated from them, but he's learning to be more independent. Hunter is affectionate and loves engaging with you; whether that's cuddling, training sessions, or just laying around at your feet while you work or eat.

With other dogs, Hunter shows a lot of love but needs to work on neutrality, he's so excited to interact that he can easily overwhelm other dogs. He's been making a lot of progress on interacting with dogs in a calmer manner; we've been training, or just sitting and observing outside dog parks. He’d likely thrive with a sibling that matches his size and energy level.

If you’re looking for an affectionate, intelligent, and active companion, Hunter could be your perfect match!
