Ethel will make a very good companion with someone who has strong breed experience and who can work with her headstrong nature. No cats, no small dogs for this lady. She has really good house manners and would love a cuddle buddy on the couch. When it is cold, she like a nice jacket and some booties to wear but will need some convincing that she won’t melt when it’s raining outside. Ethel didn’t know about playing with toys when she first arrived but has warmed up to the idea. Unfortunate they don’t keep her attention too long, as her prey drive is strong, and she is much more interested in potentially chasing small things that run around. Ethel weighs 43 pounds.
Ethel went out with Wandering Rovers today and they reported: Ethel was such a good girl on our walk. She was very excited to go for a walk, and really enjoyed praise, pets, and pats. She walked well on the leash. Stopped when we stopped, walked and turned with us. Wasn`t phased by the many birds and geese we passed. She loved sniffing everything. Seems very curious, sweet, and intelligent. Did great in the car. Drive was about 15 min each way. A good girl!
Another Rover said: We took Ethel for a walk along the river and a long car ride, followed by a picnic in the park and another walk in a quiet neighborhood. She was fantastic for everything. Perfect in the car, walks very well on a leash, and can sit nicely for a treat. Ethel is the sweetest dog and loves attention and being scratched byhind the ears. She loves to sniff while walking, but listens well when it`s time to move on. We ate lunch in front of her and she was very polite around human food. She did bark at other dogs especially if they passed by closely, but greeted humans nicely with a wagging tail. Ethel is wonderful and whoever adopts her is so lucky :)

Our shelter is currently closed for general animal viewing, but we’ve still got awesome dogs, cats and other critters waiting for new families to come and adopt them. To help keep our staff, volunteers and community healthy, we are now providing adoptions by appointment. This enables us to comply with social distancing guidelines while still finding loving homes for the pets in our care.
How does this work?
First, check out our available animals online. If you see an animal you’re interested in, visit our website (www.everettwa.gov/161/Adopt-a-Pet) to complete an online adoption application.
Our staff will review your application and contact you to discuss the adoption. Please note that we receive many applications, and it may take up to a week before you are contacted.
Adoption appointments are set up using strict social distancing protocols, and many transactions are processed ‘curbside’ outdoors. Our staff will go over appointment details when they speak with you.
Renters bring rental pet policy at time of adoption. Not having the rental pet policy available may delay or nullify an adoption.
Animals are usually able to go home right away, so be prepared for your new pet to leave with you.
CATS
- Adult cats (over 6 months): $50
- Kittens (6 months and under): $125
- Two kittens adopted at the same time: $200
SMALL ANIMALS & BIRDS
- Adoption fees vary based on species
