My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our muffin-making gem factory has found yet another rare gem on our shelves- Malachite!

Malachite came to TCR with his two siblings, his mom, & his mom’s “boyfriend” (adoptable Peg Leg Pete & Parrot, if you’re wondering). They were rescued by an independent rescuer from a place that wasn’t the best of conditions for them. We were asked to take on the tiny clan & the rest is history.

Malachite & his siblings were all quite fearful at first. They eventually had to be split up so that they could be worked with one on one. Malachite began to blossom when he was put with another single friendly kitten & began to show his true colors of sweetness! He then went into a colony room with more kittens & has only gone up from there!

Malachite is a sturdy guy, with a long tail, very handsome markings of brown, black, & tan with a peachy colored nose. He is always one of the first to come to his foster mom for pets, begging for more once she’s moved on to pet the others. He can be a little shy & skittish at first with new people, but once he builds that bond, he will absolutely love you to pieces! Malachite is doing so well with lap time & will sit and purr- until one of his buddies comes to ask him to play! He’s getting better with being picked up, but right now he’s still a little nervous to be held for long periods of time. Malachite is 100% a cat’s cat. He sweetly rubs his head on any of the others when they pass by. Malachite is still young, so he will need a playful cat buddy- maybe one of his foster siblings?! Calm dogs would most likely be ok, but loud & rambunctious dogs may be too much for him right now. We think he could live with older kids who understand to go slow at first & will take some time for him to adjust to a new home, with new sights, smells, & noises.

Malachite is approximately 8 months old, neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, FIV/FELV tested negative, dewormed, flea treated, & treated for possible ear mites & an ear infection. If you’re looking for a handsome lover boy to make you & your cat feel happy & loved, apply for Malachite today!

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

Typically we talk a little with potential adopters to find a cat who is a good fit before sharing the application.

2.

Approve Application

We check over the application including checking vet references and doing landlord checks.

3.

Interview

We spend more time chatting with the adopters to specifically go over any questions from the application and details about the specific cat.

4.

Meet the Pet

Potential adopters have a meet and greet with the cat or kitten in the foster home.

5.

Sign Adoption Contract

At the meet and greet, if all goes well, the adoption contract can be signed, the fee can be paid, and the pet can go home!

6.

Pay Fee

Additional adoption info

We try to do our best to make sure we find good fitting, responsible homes, without wasting a lot of our time. Our app has a lot of screening questions which help eliminate potential adopters who might not be serious (they usually just don't return the app), or not a good fit, which is why the in depth interview happens once the app is returned.

More about this rescue

We are a small but dedicated 501c3 nonprofit cat rescue specializing in making one person's garbage kitten another person's forever cat.

Our mission is to reduce feline suffering and overpopulation using a combination of TNR and adoptions. We foster and socialize whenever we have the resources to do so, including behavioral cats and kittens who might otherwise just be candidates for TNR.
