My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Lucky, the handsome black and white dog who is ready to find his forever home! This medium mixed breed may be 6 years old, but he still has plenty of energy and love to give. Lucky is a sweet and gentle soul who is looking for a patient and loving family to call his own.

At first, Lucky may seem a bit shy and unsure, but don`t let that fool you. He just needs a little time to warm up and get comfortable in new situations. When he first met Julie, he pulled his head away and did some lip licks, but with a little patience and gentle touch, he eventually looked to her with big, loving eyes.

Lucky is a sensitive boy who may try to step away from touch at first, but with the reassurance and guidance of someone like Megan, he quickly learns to accept and enjoy it. He may have his ears back and his body a bit stiff, but that`s just because he`s not used to all the love and affection he`s receiving.

Now, let`s talk about playtime! Lucky may not be sure what`s going on when he`s playing tag, but he`s always happy to join in and have some fun. He`s a social butterfly and is always up for some attention and playtime with his favorite people.

When it comes to food, Lucky is a gentleman. He`s not pushy or aggressive, and he doesn`t mind sharing. He`ll look at your hand when it`s near his food, but he`ll quickly go back to eating and is perfectly fine with you moving his bowl or taking it away. What a well-mannered boy!

Although Lucky may be too distracted to play with toys, he`s definitely not too distracted to give love and snuggles. He`d much rather have your attention and affection than play with a toy. But don`t worry, he`ll still happily accept any toys you give him and will show his appreciation in his own way.

Now, let`s talk about how Lucky interacts with other dogs. He may pull towards them at first and be a bit vocal, but it`s all just excitement and curiosity. Once he gets to sniff and greet the other dog, he quickly loses interest and goes back to exploring his surroundings. He`s a friendly boy who loves to make new doggy friends.

And finally, Lucky is not one to be bothered by another dog having food. In fact, he may not even be interested in his own food at first. But once he sees a stuffed dog `eating,` he can`t resist joining in on the fun. After all, food and friends go hand in hand!

Lucky may have had a bit of a rough start, but he`s ready to put his past behind him and start a new chapter w

More about this shelter

We are a local non-profit organization run and staffed by your neighbors. We make decisions on caring for homeless, unwanted, abandoned and abused domestic animals based on what we believe is best for them. We have no affiliation with any larger group and we receive no funding from any larger group that might influence our decisions or actions.

We advocate only for the animals in our care to help them find their forever home with you.

UPAWS does not receive operating funds from any governmental agency. We rely on donations from our neighbors and friends to make our efforts possible. We save consistently 98% of the animals who come to us – which is an award-winning success story. We want to educate everyone on proper animal care so there soon won’t be the three percent who come to us too sick or wounded to be saved. It’s your support that makes this dream possible.
