Jill von Jena is a beautiful, smaller-sized, 14-16 month-old German Shepherd. Still getting used to life at the rescue, Jill is slowly but surely coming into her own. She is a lovely, gentle, mid-energy pup who prefers cuddling up with her humans after lots of activity, playing with kind and polite dogs like herself and spending time with her brother Jack. On walks, Jill uses those perky ears to listen to all you have to teach her, from how to trot politely and at the right pace to where to stop and go as you cross the street. Jill especially flourishes when she’s around other dogs and has a companion. She enjoys the company and becomes more confident in their presence, whether it’s on or off the leash. At the end of a good walk or run outside, she’ll come up to you and do her signature head tilt, where she leans against you, looks at you with those big puppy eyes and waits patiently for the head pets and back scratches to follow. Jill would love to find a forever home with her brother Jack, or with another playful pup.
Rescued from the Devore animal shelter.

Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.

In order to adopt any dog from Westside German Shepherd Rescue, one must fill out an adoption application first. Upon receipt of your application, a Westside adoption counselor will contact you.We do aerial home checks and you may be asked to supply pictures as well as arranging for a home visit prior to adoption.
Adoption fees vary with each dog and typically range from $150 to $500. They are set, taking into account the dog's age, training level, temperament, if they’re newly arrived, medical condition(s) (if any) and other factors. Adoption fees are used not only to rescue and place the dog you are personally adopting, but to aid in the future rescue and rehabilitation of other deserving dogs. Adoption fees are necessary; without fees, our rescue efforts would quickly come to an end. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter, microchip, and up-to-date vaccinations.
