My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Please contact JoMa for more information about this pet.

Thanks for your interest in a pet from A.R.F.! If you see a pet here, they are still available for adoption and you should apply through our adoption application on our website at  https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/

Maple is a shy, extremely timid, dainty, orange tabby female with beautiful orange-yellow eyes. She will always be about the size of a six-month old kitten. She brought to ARF as a semi-feral kitten and she still needs time to learn to trust people. Her people must be patient with her as she gets to know you, your new home, and other cat(s) in the home.

Maple can get overwhelmed or overstimulated by people, playing, or petting and may hide or scratch out of nervousness or overstimulation. The scratching behavior only happens when she is being petted and she gets overstimulated or confuses it with play behavior. It is a playful attempt to scratch, not a “mean” motivation to try to scratch.

Because of Maple’s shyness and timidity, she needs to be in either an adult only home or a home with children 10 years or older who will respect her boundaries and not tease her. Maple needs to be in a home with at least one other playful cat. Maple would do best in a quieter, calmer home environment.

Maple does like other cats and she must be with at least one another gentle, playful cat. Having another playful cat will help burn off her kitten energy and help her become more confident. Due to her small size any other cat in her new home must be gentle with other cats. No dogs in Maple’s new home is another requirement. Her adopter must commit to do a slow introduction to the new home, her new people, and resident cat(s). The process will be explained during the meet and greet with Maple.

Maple is playful and affectionate once she gets to know you. She enjoys being petted and having someone play with her with a wand toy. Maple is not a lap cat or cuddly, but this may change as she gets older. She also does not like to be picked up. She really is an adorable cat that needs the right home to help her blossom into a confident cat.

Maple is microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations,  spayed , and litter box trained.

Maple's adoption fee is $135. If you are interested in meeting  Maple, please fill out our online adoption application at https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/ today!

Once your application has been approved, an A.R.F. volunteer will be able to contact you to arrange a meeting.

Thank you for considering a rescue pet from A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation! We are  based in Wheaton, IL and conduct adoption events in the DuPage County area. If you are interested in adopting one of our pets, please submit an adoption application at https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/

Adoption appointments are scheduled based on the order of applications received, so submit your application early! Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions or schedule meetings until your application has been approved. More information about our adoption process can be found on our website here: https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/

As an all-volunteer, foster home-based organization, A.R.F. Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals. Please visit https://www.arf-il.org/events/ for a list of our upcoming adoption events.

Thank you for choosing to adopt, not shop!
