My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Sweet Nora is ready to find her forever home. Nora is Texan transplant to the WNY area. She was originally estimated to be 5 years old, but based on her teeth, and activity level, she is probably closer to 2. At 25 pounds, Nora is a fully grown Jack Russell terrier mix. Our best guess is that there is some cattle dog in her.

Nora is a very sweet and loving girl. She is a little shy initially but once she warms up, Nora is the most fun loving little girl you could ever meet. Nora is ready for a good time, all the time! If you are looking for someone to take on long walks, or hikes, this is your girl. If you have a young, playful dog that would appreciate some to play with, Nora is that dog. Nora walks great on a leash, is crate-trained, and is basically housebroken. Accidents are expected initially, but once she learns your routine, Nora will go outside to potty with no problem. Nora is excellent in the car, so taking a road trip with her is not an issue.

Nora loves to play and wrestle with the other dogs in her foster home. She thinks every dog is her best friend. She wants everyone to chase her. If no one will play chase, Nora will play with her toys either with you or even by herself. She has a lot of energy and will need an active home to match her energy and tire her out. If you are up and moving, you can guarantee Nora is as well. Once you settle down for the night, Nora is snuggled up against you. See Nora thinks the world revolves around her family. She wants to be near them as much as possible. Any time you leave, even if it’s only for 3 minutes, joy simply radiates from her body. Nora bows, and jumps, her tail doesn’t stop wagging when she sees her people. At bedtime, expect Nora to right up against you all night.

Nora is known to bark at new sounds and people. She would not do well in an apartment environment.

Nora did test positive for heartworm in Texas. She was treated there but will need to remain on prevention for the rest of her life. Please keep this added expense when applying.

If you think Nora is the right match for your home, make sure to apply today.

Nora is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and she has been treated for heartworm.  Her adoption fee is $450

Please go to our website and read about the dog there as well as all pertinent info. for adopting this dog. IF THERE IS INFORMATION NOT INCLUDED IN THE DOGS PROFILE THAT IS NECESSARY FOR YOU TO MAKE A DECISION AS TO WHETHER ,,,GENERALLY SPEAKING,,,,THIS DOG IS A GOOD FIT FOR YOUR FAMILY, THEN PLEASE GO AHEAD AND EMAIL WITH THAT SPECIFIC QUESTION. We will be happy to answer questions not already covered in the thorough amount of info already printed on our website. We are all volunteers with jobs and families and probably more dogs than you, so please understand that we are very busy. We are not able to keep up with the constant general questions and phone call requests that, with a little time and reading on your part, is already included on our website. Replying to all emails makes it very difficult to do our jobs as well as we would like.
All dogs who have adoptions PENDING, will have that info printed right next to their name. Having a pending adoption does not make it a done deal, it means that we are at the home visit/meet and greet phase of the adoption and it could go one way or another so feel free to check back on the status of the dog in question.
We do not have a facility for you to come and visit our dogs. They are in our homes, sleeping in our beds and lounging on our sofa. We value our privacy and do not open our homes to visitors wanting to meet "all the dogs".
Thank you for your interest in our wonderful Pixie Mamas pooches. Without you adopters we could not continue to do what we do. We appreciate your time and effort as well ,to comply with what is needed for us to keep Pixie Mamas Rescue going with as little stress and extra time as necessary.
Our adoption fees start at $200, some highly adoptable dogs are more and others are less - that will be stated in their profiles.
Good luck in finding the right dog for your family.

More about this rescue

Pixie Mamas Rescue (PMR) is a group of volunteer dog lovers whose mission is to rescue, provide sanctuary, and ultimately to re-home abandoned, stray and neglected dogs. We also assist dogs who, because of extenuating circumstances, are unable to remain in their homes. We aid in the rescue of small breed dogs. We are located in Western New York.
All PMR dogs are housed in foster homes where they are provided with an enormous amount of love and any medical attention that may be required to insure that they are in good health before adoption. They are all spayed or neutered and brought up-to-date on shots before being placed in their new homes.
All dogs are evaluated for temperament and personality. This helps us to place them in homes that are well suited to their needs and to the needs of their future owners.
