Adopt Maximus! Born in May 2024, this tripod tabby boy was found limping in a Jack in the Box parking lot, struggling to get to food, water, and safety on his 3 legs. Maximus may have been born with a partial right hind leg, or he might have had an injury. Either way, he was not equipped for a perilous life outdoors where he almost certainly would have faced an early death.
When Maximus was first trapped and brought indoors, he was frightened, hissing and hiding. He had a wound on his leg stump from trying to walk on it on the hard pavement - this was stitched up, and he will have his leg fully amputated on 2/2/25.
Within a couple weeks, Maximus started accepting pattings with a back scratcher and then a hand. He observed his foster sisters enjoying the indoor life and made a major breakthrough...he blossomed into a purring sweetheart who readily accepts pattings. He purrs and purrs, and relaxes in his foster's lap or in a cat bed right next to her. Maximus is still gaining confidence and can feel scared when approached at times. He will likely be more relaxed after his surgery, as his stump seems to cause him discomfort.
He likes to play with string toys, and he really loves other cats. He would do best in a quiet home with a friendly resident cat, or he could be adopted with another cat or kitten.
This special boy will need a patient adopter with a calm household where he can have time to get comfortable. Maximus uses a low-sided litter box perfectly. He is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, and vaccinated. He will be ready for his forever home after he recovers from surgery and gains more confidence.
If you are interested in providing Maximus with the loving forever home he deserves, contact foster Nisha at nkchauhan@gmail.com and/or sponsor Marilyn at marileealong@comcast.net. Maximus is located in Contra Costa County, CA.
