Jasper von Jagel is a gorgeous, 5-6-year-old, long-haired, tri-pawed German Shepherd. Jasper is the sweetest, most loving dog with a luxuriant coat. He's a smart boy who's already mastered many commands and enjoys winning treats for being a Good Boy! Likely housetrained, this fluffy fellow thrives on earning your petting and has a nice, easygoing personality. Coming in at a medium-energy level, Jasper enjoys lying at your feet and keeping you company. He walks well on his leash and being a tripod doesn't keep him from happily exploring the big wide world on his walks. In playgroups, Jasper is calm and comfortable, wagging his tail as he meets doggie friends and avoiding those pushy pups (but no kitty pals for this boy).

Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.

Upon receipt of your application, a Westside adoption counselor will contact you.We do aerial home checks and you may be asked to supply pictures as well as arranging for a home visit prior to adoption.
Adoption fees vary with each dog and typically range from $150 to $500. They are set, taking into account the dog's age, training level, temperament, if they’re newly arrived, medical condition(s) (if any) and other factors. Adoption fees are used not only to rescue and place the dog you are personally adopting, but to aid in the future rescue and rehabilitation of other deserving dogs. Adoption fees are necessary; without fees, our rescue efforts would quickly come to an end. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter, microchip, and up-to-date vaccinations.
