Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet MERCY (18 year old Cat Waiting for a Family)
Mercy has been in a foster home for a long time as we worked with her veterinarian to help her through the medical issues she'd been living with.
Mercy was found leaning against a structure near an elementary school. One of the moms noticed her, but became concerned when she was in the same spot 8 hours later.
We discovered that Mercy had lived in a home with a dog she was afraid of and with a broken leg that had never been been medically treated. She will never be able to use that leg, keeping it tucked to her body.
To further complicate Mercy's well being, she also suffered from uncontrolled hyperthyroidism. Thanks to a local nonprofit group dedicated to shelter animals, Mercy's thyroid levels are now in the normal range and she has even gained weight. https://www.petmd.com/cat/conditions/endocrine/c_ct_hyperthyroidism
(Check out Pound Pals Downriver on Facebook to see more of their uplifting recovery stories)
Mercy is now ready for a responsible home to spend the time she has left in comfort and safety. She will have to continue her medication for the rest of her life, but as a transdermal medication, it could not be easier to give!
