My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Keyla!

Keyla is a stunning 3-year-old female German Shepherd mix with short hair and a sleek, medium-slim build. Weighing in at 22 kilos (48 pounds), she’s the perfect size for both cuddles and adventures. Her striking black and brown coat makes her a true beauty inside and out.

Health & Training

Keyla is fully spayed, vaccinated, and 4DX negative (heartworm negative). She’s a smart and well-mannered pup who is:

  • Good with dogs, kids, and even cats (with proper introductions).

  • Leash-trained and enjoys long walks.

  • Potty-trained and clean in her foster home.

  • Crate-trained and respects her space.

She’s an independent dog who can be left alone for 4-6 hours once she adjusts to her new environment. Keyla is a quick learner and thrives with structure and routine.

Personality & Temperament

Keyla is a medium-energy dog with a gentle and intelligent nature. Initially shy with new people, she quickly warms up and shows her sweet, balanced personality. She’s an agile and active girl who enjoys playtime with other dogs and social outings with her “person.”

Keyla’s foster describes her as:

  • Obedient and observant—a true companion.

  • Adaptable—comfortable in both calm and active environments.

  • Food possessive—likely stemming from her early struggles, so she’ll need to be fed separately if joining a multi-dog household.

Ideal Home

Keyla would thrive in a home with:

  • An active family or individual who enjoys outdoor adventures like hikes or long walks.

  • A secure yard where she can play and explore.

  • Older children who can match her energy and agility.

Whether it’s a cozy night at home or a day full of activities, Keyla is ready to share her love and loyalty.

Rescue Story

Keyla’s journey began as a neglected 6-month-old puppy found in poor condition on the streets of Guadalajara. With time, love, and care from her foster, she has blossomed into a healthy and well-adjusted dog. Despite her incredible transformation, Keyla has yet to find her forever home.

She has been patiently waiting for a family who will provide her the love, security, and adventures she deserves.

Adoption Fee: $600

Keyla can’t wait to meet her perfect match and start her next chapter filled with love and happiness!

They are currently in Mexico awaiting a family committed to a 10-day trial. If interested, please apply at www.northwestwagrescue.org. The adoption fee is $600 and includes up-to-date vaccines, a negative heartworm test, spaying/neutering, and microchipping.
