Indie Hello, cat lovers. I`d like you to think about my favorite quote by Charles Dickens: `What greater gift than the love of a cat?` That man really appreciated cats. I am a 4-year-old male cat with a mysterious past. My owner found me as a stray one and a half years ago, but on December 10, I was surrendered to the HSHC. Somehow, we never learned how to make our relationship work. I was crazy about my female owner and loved sleeping with her! But the young children, the man, and the dog tended to overstimulate me. When I cannot bear the activities or people around me, I can resort to growling, hissing, or swatting to show my discomfort. The HSHC staff understands my signals and finds me to be a friendly boy who can overreact. I was sent to the Smitten Kitten Cat Cafe (SKCC) on December 30. This staff feels I am a pleasant fellow if you don`t ask me to interact with kids younger than 10. I have a thing about having my legs pulled on. I was pleased as punch to have the interviewer lady petting my head and rubbing my ears. I purred up a storm during our conversation. The HSHC staff recommends that I be given daily play sessions 2 to 3 times a day with interactive toys (anything I can chase or capture) to tire me out and build my tolerance for new situations. I weigh 14.4 pounds, so a little exercise would be good for me. I do well with a consistent routine and predictable events. My favorite treats are the lickable ones, and my favorite toys are the 3-tier ball tower and wand toys. If you can provide me with lots of playtime and allow me `my alone time,` then we could become best friends. 1-7-25

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.
This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
