My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Have you ever dreamed of owning a living, breathing mop? Meet Binnie! Alright, alright, he’s not an actual mop, but with his current state of matting, he’s doing a pretty good impression. This fluffy boy is a prime example of why Poodles, despite their "no-shedding" reputation, still need regular grooming. Sure, their coats are as cute as a button, but without upkeep, they can transform into a lovable, waddling fluffball that’s just one hairbrush away from mop duty.

How many of you felt your ears perk up at the mere mention of "Poodle"? Go ahead, admit it—I know you’re out there! Yes, folks, we’ve got one of the infamous Doodles in our rescue, and his name is Binnie. Thinking, "What kind of spelling is that for Benny?" You’re not wrong, but since we’ve had a few Bennys pass through here, we had to get a little creative! Binnie is a 14-month-old Great Pyrenees/Poodle mix, and honestly, it doesn’t get much better than this. Picture a Great Pyrenees with less shedding—or at least not as much. Now, before you start imagining a pristine, snow-free home, let me remind you: Binnie is currently rocking a matted coat that could rival a wooly mammoth. So, I make no promises that a few months with Binnie won’t have you questioning if it snowed indoors. Grooming appointments will be your new best friend (regardless if he sheds or not ;) ). Let’s address the elephant—or rather, the "tiny dog" illusion—in the room. For reasons we’ll never understand, Binnie’s pictures make him look like a pocket-sized fluffball. Reality check: this boy is BIG (we are guessing around 80lbs but his coat makes him look even bigger in person). We’re talking full-couch-occupying, abominable-snowman-running-at-you kind of big. But don’t worry—he’s all hugs, fluff, and love.

So, how did he end up with us? Binnie found his way to us through no fault of his own—it was more of a case of him discovering his inner Olympic hurdler. His previous family loved him dearly but couldn’t keep up with his newfound talent for clearing their gate. With neighbors voicing concerns and the cost of a taller fence being out of reach, they made the difficult decision to surrender him so he could find a home better suited to his... athleticism.
Interestingly enough, in his foster home, Binnie hasn’t even tried to test the boundaries. It’s almost like he’s retired from his high-jumping career altogether! Perhaps he’s saving his energy for other pursuits, like perfecting his hugs, charming everyone he meets, or basking in his well-deserved status as the king of fluff. While Binnie has been a model citizen in his foster home and hasn’t attempted to jump the fence, we still recommend secure fencing and supervision whenever he’s outside. It’s better to be safe than sorry—after all, his high-jumping days could make a comeback at any time, for now though he is keeping all four feet on the ground.

Binnie came to us with glowing reviews about his love for other dogs from his last home, but... let’s just say he’s been rewriting his script. Whether he’s embracing a new persona or simply decided this is his time to shine as someone’s one-and-only, Binnie has proven to be quite dog-selective. In his mind, he’s the only polar bear you’ll ever need! He’s not a fan of the big or even medium-sized competition, but if a dog is smaller than him and gives him his space, he might decide to that they can hang around him. But let’s not dwell on his diva moments, because in every other way, Binnie is downright awesome. For starters, he’s a cat enthusiast—in the peaceful coexistence kind of way. Forget that age-old rivalry; Binnie believes dogs and cats can rule the kingdom side by side. He’s also an A+ fan of kids and thinks they’re the best thing since squeaky toys. Truth be told, Binnie adores humans of all ages. Now, if you’re steady on your feet and not prone to tripping over invisible obstacles (or giant fluffy dogs), Binnie might just be your perfect match. With his love of hugs, his irresistible charm, and a smile that could win awards, this boy will have your heart faster than you can say, “Fluffy cuddle monster!”

If you're looking for a dog who’s always ready to be your wingman on every adventure, Binnie is your guy. He’ll hop right into the car without hesitation, tail wagging, ready to go wherever life takes him. Whether it’s a trip to the store, a weekend getaway, or a hike in the great outdoors, Binnie’s always game. Now, when it comes to walks, let's be clear: Binnie’s idea of leash walking is more of a "suggestion" than a strict rule. His leash manners are a work in progress, so be prepared for some zig-zag action and, more than likely, a few moments where he ends up walking you instead. Think of it like telling your husband to take out the trash… sometimes it happens, sometimes it’s more like a suggestion. One thing’s for sure: when it comes to people, Binnie’s got a heart as big as his personality. If you're lucky enough to meet him, be ready for some Binnie-style hugs, because this boy loves everyone. He’ll win you over with his smile and enthusiasm. But don’t worry if you’re more of a homebody—Binnie’s got you covered there too. If you like hosting gatherings, Binnie would be the ultimate party host, making the rounds and ensuring that every guest gets some love and a chance to shower him with affection. Whether he's hiking or hosting, Binnie’s ready to make every day a little brighter with his charm and goofy personality!

Binnie is the embodiment of happy-go-lucky. Nothing seems to get him down—he’s the dog that just rolls with the punches, wearing a smile no matter what. He’s the perfect balance of playful and calm, always ready to join in on whatever adventure his family has planned. Want to go on an adventure? He’ll be waiting by the car, ready to go. Want to watch a movie? No problem—he’ll make himself right at home on your lap. Personal space? Not really in Binnie’s vocabulary. ;) Now, before you get too excited about having the "perfect" dog, here’s a little spoiler: Binnie is not a fan of fetch. I know, I know, it’s a tough pill to swallow, but this guy has absolutely no interest in chasing after toys. Why bother with that silly game when you can chase after attention instead? So, if you were hoping for a fetch partner, Binnie might just give you a look that says, “Nah, I’d rather cuddle.” But here’s the good news: Binnie is a dream when it comes to house manners. He’s fully potty trained, kennel trained, and has zero interest in chewing up your belongings. Oh, and get this—he's practically a mythical creature in the Pyr world... a Pyr who doesn’t bark. I know, it’s about as rare as a unicorn sighting, but it’s true!

If you’ve fallen for Binnie and are ready to offer him his forever home, then buckle up—because the adventure begins here! Simply fill out the adoption application at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app and once it's in, we’ll send it over to his foster family to make sure it’s a perfect match—for both you and Binnie. He’s not just looking for any home; he’s searching for the right humans to begin the next chapter of his life. We’re all about ensuring everyone is on the same page, making sure this is a match made in fluffy heaven.

Binnie is currently living the good life in Hutchinson, KS, but if you’ve fallen head over paws for this fluffy guy and you’re out of state, how about a road trip? We don’t believe in sending our VIP fluffy butts on commercial transports—they deserve the royal treatment! Besides, a scenic drive might be the perfect chance to bond before and after you welcome your new best friend home. Adventure awaits—let’s make it happen!
