In Greek myth, Athena is the goddess of Wisdom, and rest assured, this Athena is just as smart! Brains, beauty and sweetness, Athena has it all and she’s ready to go home with you!
We believe Athena to be an American Pit Bull Terrier, Labrador mix. Estimated to be around 2 years old, Athena weighs in at a snuggly 53 pounds. She is a rescue, so her exact age and breed are unknown to us and cannot be guaranteed.

Athena loves love, and she loves toys. Combine the two, and she’s in for a good time. Athena will carry a toy around the room and get pets from anyone and everyone nearby, it’s very sweet. She loves chew toys, especially Nylabones and Kongs. Athena is a staff favorite, beloved by our kennel techs especially, who remark that she’s a fun dog to care for because she loves playing fetch! She greets everyone with tail wags and kisses, she loves to snuggle, and she loves to lay her head on your lap.
Athena is uber smart, but not your average high-intelligence-high-energy type of smart. Athena is medium energy and knows how to prioritize a good nap or a cozy snuggle, but she also has a wonderful ability to learn, solve puzzles, and read your cues! Our behavior team says that Athena is such a talented girl that she would be a great candidate for agility training. She’s food motivated, and takes treats gently with a simple “gentle” verbal reminder. She’s crate trained, and her foster family says she goes in for a small piece of cheese. She also responds to “sit,” “stay,” “come,” “down,” and “load up,” among a handful of other commands. She’s also already doggy-door trained!
Social and friendly, Athena is a people-lover to her core. She gets excited about meeting new faces and loves making friends. She’s great in the car, relaxed and happy to be near her humans. She’s a perfect “adventure dog,” and such a charmer that any “adventure” with her turns into her own personal social hour. Athena’s sweetness can turn any room into a party. Athena is also, no surprise, good on leash. She loooooves walks too, the second the leash is in your hands, she’s ready to go! She gets so excited, with tail wags and pacing between you and the door. She plasters this huge smile across her face that will surely guilt you into many “I didn’t mean to touch the leash” walks.
Athena is also an amazing tandem walker. After a quick sniff, Athena is ready to tandem walk with just about any dog. If you have a hiking group, a run club, or a few good friends with dogs of their own- Athena is ready to accompany you on those adventures too.
A few more things we know about Athena- She has been fostered in a home with a Chihuahua before, so we know she’s small dog friendly! She loves the doggy pool, and loves to splash in water. She lets her humans play rough with her without getting mouthy. She’s super smart and super cute!!!
Athena’s perfect home would have a big backyard for her to zoom in, and at least one adoring human to play with her, and love on her. Athena is not recommend for a home with kitties or small children. Athena could live with other dogs, but she’s so people-focused that other dogs are not a necessity for her! Athena would be an amazing match for anyone with an active, outdoorsy lifestyle- she’s a “go anywhere, do anything” dog- so brave, loyal and confident. Adopt Athena and bring endless love and joy and love into your life!
We are willing to test Athena with anything you need us to in order to ensure she’s the perfect match for you! We can make anything happen! Just let us know.

https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success.
Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!
Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond.
Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.
The rescue’s hard costs alone for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,120. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that Three Little Pitties Rescue is not government funded.
It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS:

Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission!
Follow our rescue journey and connect with us on our website and social media platforms. Together, we can make a difference, one adoption at a time.
