My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet handsome guy, Marty McFly!

McFly, 12–18 months old male Mal/GSD, is looking for a forever home (red puffy vest included)!

 * Good with cats and dogs

* Good with older kids (has lived with children 11 years old, but small children can be a little intimidating)

* Treat and toy motivated—bring on the snacks and squeaky toys!

* Loves humans and getting pets

* Travels well—he’s ready for road trips! Bonus if you have a Delorean

* Welcomes soft beds to lounge on

* Lower drive—perfect for a laid-back lifestyle

* Wears his red puffy vest when it is cold

* Generous with his nose boops

* Knows a few basic commands (when he feels like it)—very smart and just needs positive reinforcement and consistency

*  Needs to gain 20 lbs (currently around 50 lbs, estimated 70 lbs when he fills out)

*  Leads with his nose - potential for scent work

*  90% crate trained but cannot be in a metal wire crate

Our mailing address is in Michigan, however, each of our dogs are fostered in private homes across the US, with the location state of the dog included in the name of the pet or in the title description. If you are within 4 hours of the pet, please be prepared to pick the pet up. We only offer transport assistance for up to 350 miles. The applicant is responsible for the remainder of the distance of the transport.

The basic information that we have available is in our posting, but sometimes fosters will post updates on the MAD Rescue Facebook page as well, https://www.facebook.com/groups/malinoisanddutchshepherdrescueinc.

More about this rescue

Mission Statemet
Malinois and Dutch Shepherd Rescue, Inc. (MAD) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization which is dedicated to rescuing Belgian Malinois and Dutch Shepherds who have found themselves without a home (surrendered, discarded, abused, neglected or impounded). MAD does not have a physical location and is operated by compassionate, like-minded professionals who volunteer their time and resources to help save and care for the Malinois and Dutch Shepherds. All animals that are accepted by MAD are spayed or neutered, given medical attention and rehabilitation, as needed, and placed with foster homes until their health and evaluations are completed and they are ready to be placed in their loving permanent homes.
