My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Mae!

Mae is a sweet and funny 5-year-old beagle mix who’s ready to find her forever home! She was found as a stray, but now that she’s settling into her foster home, her adorable personality is shining through.

With her cute short tail and a happy wiggle that takes over her whole back half, Mae is impossible not to love. She’s been crushing potty training—with zero accidents in over a week! When she’s not showing off her good manners, she’s enjoying her favorite hobby: napping (with the softest little snores).

Mae is fantastic with dogs, cats, and kids, making her the perfect fit for just about any home. She even loves wearing her pink jacket when it’s chilly because, well, she knows she’s pretty!

More about this rescue

Hound Rescue is always in need of foster homes. We do not have a shelter so our ability to rescue is limited only by the number of families willing to take in a beagle in need. If interested go to http://houndrescue.com and click on "How to Foster."

Hound Rescue started in Austin, Texas in 1998. We are a small group of individuals who foster dogs in our homes. Hound Rescue also provides placement assistance to both shelters and others who need to find homes for hounds who for whatever reason have become stray.

Most of our animals come from high-kill facilities where they were scheduled to be euthanized. Because of the huge numbers of unwanted dogs, Hound Rescue Texas can only take owner surrenders on a limited basis as space permits in our foster home network.
