My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Thunder! A pup with a personality as big as her name but with ears so small and cute, they flop over like little pillows.

She's got one blue eye and one brown eye—because why have two eyes that match when you can look extra mysterious?

Thunder enjoys running at full speed (usually straight into the couch) and taking naps in the sun like the queen she is.

Don’t let her cuteness fool you—this dog’s got big energy and even bigger dreams!

Visit during adoption hours to meet with Thunder:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 12pm-5:30pm
Thursday: 2:30pm-5pm

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Scott County (HSSC) has been an advocate for the humane care of all animals in Scott County, Iowa, since 1902.

An average of 500 pets arrive at the HSSC each month. About 80% come to us as strays and the rest are surrendered by owners who can no longer keep or care for their pets.

The HSSC is a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization funded entirely by donations, adoption fees and a fee charged to the city and county for the care of the animals.
