My name is Hattie! I'm a young dog who is energetic, fun and playful. I'm looking for a home where I can have fun with my people, but still have a calmer household without a lot of new people coming into my home. I am protective of my home and people, so when people I don't know come in, I get upset. Of course, baby gates or a crate would be very useful in keeping me secure during those times. If you are looking for a petite young dog to spend your days with, please come and visit me.

*We DO NOT transfer dogs to other shelters or transport for the purpose of adoption. We do not adopt over 350 miles away.

You MUST be able/willing to come to the shelter to meet the animal you are interested in.

More about this shelter

It is the primary mission of CCHS to operate a "no time limits" shelter for domestic (non-feral) dogs and cats from Keweenaw, Houghton, and Baraga Counties and the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community in accordance with the guidelines set by the Michigan Department of Agriculture. The shelter receives animals from animal control and private citizens. CCHS works to return lost animals to their owners and to identify suitable homes for the remaining animals. These animals are not judged by "time of stay" to determine adoptability. Euthanasia will be considered per veterinarian recommendation based on health, temperament and quality of life and will only be performed by a veterinarian. While in our care, animals receive professional, quality care by concerned individuals dedicated to helping animals.
