Meet David Barkham, our adorable Foxhound mix with a heart full of loyalty! David is an easy-going guy who loves his routine and enjoys spending time with his humans. While he’s a bit shy in new situations and places, he’s always eager to be by your side.

David is a sweet boy who’s not a huge fan of cuddling, but he’s a constant companion and will always be close by. (Be watchful for the occasional counter-surfing attempts though!) His energy level is moderate—he enjoys toys and being outdoors but is also happy just hanging out with you.

David is housebroken with just a few accidents here and there, but he does give you hints when he needs to go, like circling or heading to the door. Frequent breaks will help keep him on track, and he already holds it in overnight! He’s good with other dogs and learning with cats. He might give them a little chase or bark at them from time to time, but he’s not aggressive towards them!

He’s learning leash manners and could use some practice, but with patience, he’ll be a walking pro in no time. David is crate trained, and while he doesn’t know many commands yet, he’s a quick learner and very eager to please.

David is at a healthy weight and shows no signs of health issues, since his heartworm treatment. His calm and serious look might make him seem like he’s deep in thought but make no mistake—he’s a happy boy who just loves being around his people.

If you’re looking for a sweet and loyal companion who will follow you around and just want to be close, David B might be the perfect addition to your family.

Come meet this adorable guy today—David Barkham is ready to find his forever home!

More about this rescue

The London Sanctuary (TLS) focuses on providing a safe haven for elderly and unwanted Beagles and Hound Dogs, as well as other at-risk, large to medium-sized breeds, as space and funds permit. Special consideration is given to hounds of all types, which are also greatly at risk in northeast Florida.

• TLS rescues, rehabilitates, and re-homes as many dogs from area shelters as possible. Our priority is to save dogs most at-risk of euthanasia in shelter facilities.
• TLS attempts to place dogs through online pet-listing services and forums, and social media.
• TLS thoroughly screens prospective owners with home and veterinary reference checks.
• TLS houses a limited number of dogs as care-for-life dogs that cannot be placed either due to age and/or medical conditions.
• TLS provides ongoing support and education to all adopters.
• TLS spays/neuters and gives required immunizations and necessary medical treatment to all dogs prior to placement.
