My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*This dog is scheduled to arrive in Grimsby, Ontario on Saturday, January 18, 2025*Apply to adopt at rebeldogrescue.com*All adoptions with Rebel Dog Rescue have a 15 day probation period. Read about our adoption process on our website.

This handsome, white-and-black sweetheart is the perfect mix of playful and relaxed, making him an ideal companion for just about any lifestyle. River is a well-mannered gentleman. He thrives on routine and loves having a cozy spot to curl up when the day winds down - bonus points if that spot is on the couch next to you!

With other dogs, River is a total rock star. He has a give and take play style, making him a hit in shelter playgroups. Whether it's chasing his friends around or just enjoying the outdoors, River is always up for some fun. While hed love to have another canine buddy in his forever home, its not a must - his adaptable and independent nature means hed do well as a solo dog too.

River has also shown promising signs of being cat-friendly. When introduced to cats, he displayed a healthy dose of respect, backing away when swatted. While he hasnt lived with cats, his demeanor suggests he could peacefully coexist with them in the right environment and with proper introductions.

He walks on a leash, though hes a strong boy who could use a bit of work on pulling. His energy level is moderate, so hed thrive in a home where he can enjoy regular outdoor time and then relax inside with his people.

If youre looking for a laid-back best friend whos happy to play when youre ready and cuddle when youre not, River is your guy. Hes ready to join a loving family and fill your home with warmth, tail wags, and unconditional love.

Additional adoption info

R.E.B.E.L Dog Rescue is looking for committed adopters, ready to bring a rescue dog into their life. In order to ensure that we find the best homes for our dogs, adoption applicants must go through an adoption approval process. We receive a number of applications for each dog and only one will be chosen as the successful candidate. Candidates are selected based on the dog's needs. Not being selected for the dog that you applied for does not disqualify you from adopting from us in the future.

Go meet their pets

We do our very best to place our dogs into adoptive homes before they arrive into Canada. This ensures that they have a safe and loving place to go after their long journey up North. All dogs adopted through R.E.B.E.L Dog Rescue will receive a 15 day adoption probation period. This period starts the day the dog enters the care of the adopter. This means that the adoptive family has 15 days to determine that dog is a good fit for them. Although it may feel scary to not meet the dog before adopting, the 15 day period allows you to get to know the dog within your home. If you buy a dog off of Kijiji or at a local shelter you may be given a couple hours to meet the dog. We believe that our program's 15 day probation provides much more insight into how he or she will fit into your home, rather than. a brief meet and greet.

More about this rescue

R.E.B.E.L Dog Rescue was founded in 2020 by a small group of young women with one thing is common: a love for dogs. Since establishment, RDR has successfully found forever homed for over 700 dogs. Our mission is to rescue dogs in dire situations and give them a second chance at life through education and empowerment. All of our dogs come the streets and shelters across Texas, where they are experiencing a dog overpopulation crisis. Our team has travelled to the State to see first-hand how we can help and make a difference in the lives of animals.
R.E.B.E.L stands for: rescue, educate, believe, empower and love dogs. We live by these words every day and encourage the dog-loving community to follow suit!
