My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

(10/11/2021) Are you curious about Stevie Wonder's halo and name? Stevie Wonder got his name because, like his namesake, he cannot see. This sweet boy is completely blind but that does not stop him at all. The wonderful organization, Muffin’s Halo, donated a harness halo to help Stevie acclimate to his new surroundings and use whenever he needs it. OR maybe, just maybe, he has a halo simply because he is an angel!?!?

He loves the companionship of people and dogs so a fur-ever home with a friendly furry sibling to hang out with and at least one person home most of the time, is the kind of family Stevie is LOOKING for!! He really loves having other dogs and people around. He is a great buddy to have brighten your days.

This boy is a fun and very happy pup and will need a family that is patient and accommodating to watch over him and keep him out of harms way. A fenced yard or leash walks would be best to keep him safe.

Stevie's blindness does not limit him, but he will bump into things until he is use to where everything is in the home. Stevie would likely not be the best choice for a family if you have littles toddling around, he could knock them over unknowingly. He has been to a animal eye specialist that has diagnosed him with a birth defect, that is non-painful. His eyes never fully matured, he likely saw shadows as a pup, and he is now  completely blind.

He is crate trained and good in his crate, and he will let you know if he needs to go out.  Adopt sweet Stevie, he’s a good boy who needs a loving patient home and he will reward you with loyalty and laughter!

As part of Stevie Wonders’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Stevie Wonder, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

1. Review the description of the pet you are interested in to make sure that the information we have fits with your particular needs and desires. In most cases, the information on the website is current and gives the information that we have about the particular pet. The picture of the pet does not tell the whole story.

2. Complete the adoption application at https://pawsforlifenc.org. Please make sure that you give us as much information about yourself as you can. List all animals currently living with you including other dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, and rodents. The application needs to be complete in order to help us determine if the pet you have chosen is a good match for your home.

3. Once the application is submitted we will contact you, your references, and your vet.

4. We require a home visit prior to dog adoptions.

5. If more than one person applies, we will go with the BEST fit. If all things are equal, we go in the order the applications were received.

6. Once the home visit has been completed, you will be asked to complete an adoption agreement.

7. The adoption fee is $325 for dogs under 6 months, $300 for 6 months and older. The adoption fee is $125 for kittens under 1 year ($225 for 2 kittens), $85 for cats 1 year and older. This fee helps us to provide the necessary medical care and other needs for the pets while in foster care.

8. All Paws For Life NC pets are spayed or neutered if old enough, current on shots, micro chipped, and to our knowledge, in good health before they are adopted out. Puppies under 6 months of age will require a $100 refundable spay/neuter deposit in addition to the adoption fee and a special puppy spay/neuter agreement. Kittens under 6 months will require a $50 refundable spay/neuter deposit in addition to the adoption fee. We are all volunteers and receive no monetary compensation for our work with the pets. The adoption fee is used to help defray costs in the rescue and care of the pets.

9. Congratulations! You are on your way to having your new companion. We hope that you and your new companion share a life of love and happiness. We welcome any comments you may wish to give us about your pet at any time.
