My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Willow is a very sweet, friendly, 5 year old lab mix. She had to be surrendered with her sister Moonshine when her owner was forced to find new housing. Willow is now looking for a home of her own.

She is friendly, potty trained, and good with other friendly, polite dogs. Overall she's a really easy, gentle, pleasant dog to have in your home. She has a really nice energy level. She loves to zoom around the yard, play fetch, or play with a toy for a bit and then find a comfy spot to nap. She's the perfect, quiet, mellow companion when her foster mom works from home during the day. She is a great snuggler and nap buddy. She loves to get pets and scratches and won't hesitate to remind her human to give her some more! There aren't kids or cats in Willow's current foster home but she'd likely be good with kids who understand how to behave around bigger dogs. It's unknown how she would do with cats and would most likely need very slow managed introductions to them.

She likes walks and walks relatively well on a leash. She pulls some but settles in as you go and owners who are used to having a bigger dog should have no problem handling her. Overall she's pretty quiet but does have a relatively big bark when she's excited about something. She loves to go for car rides. She has been trustworthy when left free-roaming at home when her foster mom leaves the house. At night she just curls up at the foot of your bed and sleeps there soundly. She's a pretty good listener - generally comes when you call her, will stop a behavior if you tell her no. She doesn't jump much or countersurf and hasn't shown any resource guarding either with the other dog in her foster home or her foster mom. She has done fine in a doggy daycare setting but does not require this.

Willow is a gem of a dog who doesn't need much in life. Her happy place is being at home with her family and maybe another friendly doggy friend. She would love a home where she can get some walks, play some fetch in the yard, and have some big fluffy beds to snooze on.

More about this rescue

Camp Companion is a 501c3 organization established in 2003.

Based in Rochester MN, the organization is totally driven by volunteers.

Camp Companion is dedicated to providing low-cost spay and neuter services for feral, farm and stray companion animals. The organization is funded solely by donations, fundraisers, grants, and adoption fees. All funds we receive are used for veterinary expenses and the cost of care incurred for the animals waiting for their forever homes.

Through our spay / neuter efforts, we encounter kittens and stray domestic cats that need rescue services and a forever home. We have no shelter, but rely on foster homes to care for these rescued pets. Every animal we offer for adoption is spayed or neutered.
