My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Murphy!

He looks to be a terrier mix of some sort - Prior to coming to Saving Great Animals, this little cutie was roaming the streets of Yakima and fending for himself for around 4 months! Understandably, upon arriving, he was very timid, untrusting and would run from anyone who got too close.  Over the last few weeks, he has really warmed up to his foster family.  He now sleeps on the bed with everyone, including his foster siblings.  He also likes to hang out with everyone on the couch during movie night!  However, he still likes to keep a distance and will get closer when he feels comfortable.  I think with a little time and lots of hot dogs, Murph could be the perfect companion!

We have a crate up and he will go in there and wait when he sees his meals being prepared – He is a foodie and very food motivated!  Since he was on his own for so long, he might go the trash can to see if anything is available for him to snag or even sit close by, hoping for a bite of whatever you’re eating.  We do feed him in the crate as he gets confused and will try to eat the other dog’s food.  He was recently neutered and has been pretty good at not going potty in the house, although he could use additional training on letting you know when he needs to go.  If he is in a closed crate, he will bark and let you know that he is hungry or needs to go outside.  We have had a couple accidents overnight, but that’s to be expected - We keep our backdoor open often during the day, so he is able to go in and out freely.

He will likely bark with people coming and going in and out of the house, as well as bark at people his isn’t familiar with. I believe that with time/training, this could be helped!

He is great with other dogs – He loves his foster siblings, especially Rosie!  He loves to play and run around in the yard.  He is also good with the small kids he is living with.

Murphy is neutered, vaccinated and chipped. His adoption fee is $450

We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.  Thank you for stepping up to save a life!
