My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Fireworks lit up the sky on New Year’s Eve, but for Jenna, the night wasn’t a celebration—it was terrifying. Like so many pets during the holiday, the loud noises likely sent her running far from home. And while we hoped her family would come looking for her, no one ever did. When Jenna first arrived at HSSM, she was shut down and scared, unsure of the people and new surroundings. She avoided interaction, kept to herself, and seemed to carry the weight of her lost world on her shoulders. But today, Jenna showed us all that there’s still so much joy and hope within her. For the first time, she showed us her playful side, chasing a ball with pure excitement. Not only did she fetch it with precision, but she even tossed it back into her caregiver’s hands as if to say, “One more time!” Watching her light up over something so simple was enough to bring tears to our eyes. She’s been waiting for someone to share those moments with—someone to see her potential and let her truly shine. Jenna is a 4-year-old, 48-pound Hound mix. She’s negative for heartworms and eager to learn and grow in a home of her own. While she has shown some improvement in her behavior since her arrival, we are not fully confident in how she may behave around small or young children. At this time, it is not necessarily advised, but we always recommend that any children in the home tag along for a meet-and-greet to ensure everyone is a perfect fit. Jenna has shown us what she’s capable of—joy, loyalty, and so much love. Now she just needs someone to believe in her.
