If you are a dog owner...you know why we like Fritos!! Frito is a 2 year old Retriever mix who has been in HSSM care since January 1st 2025 after being picked up by Animal Control. Scared and cautious she was unsure how to adjust to her new living situation for the first week, as she did not understand how she had gotten lost. When meeting new people she takes her time, but slowly warms up and curls up into your lap, rolling over for belly rubs. She is treat motivated and takes the treats gently. She knows sit, lay down, walk on a leash, and is heartworm negative. She would do best in a home with older kids as loud noises are scary. She is looking for a family to give her the chance to grow. We are certain she would thrive in a household if given the chance. She is waiting for you! Make a difference in a dogs life and come meet her today!

HSSM is home to over 300 pets on any given day, most of which are looking for new forever homes! Your new best friend could be waiting at HSSM right now. Our beautiful, 41,000 square foot facility is currently open to the public. HSSM is open for adoptions Tuesday – Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. No appointment is necessary to adopt, however, adoptions are first-come, first served. You must come to HSSM to complete your adoption and make sure you bring a photo ID, as it is required to complete adoption paperwork.
Our adoptable animals page is self-updating and displays ALL of HSSM’s adorable adoptable pets from “pocket pets” to birds and of course the hundreds of dogs and cats currently calling HSSM home! See one you like? Make sure you note your favorite’s name and animal ID number so that HSSM staff and volunteers can easily find him/her when you come in!
Adoptions are cut off every day about 30 minutes prior to closing and possibly earlier if volume is high. Weekends are busy and you may have to wait more than an hour (especially in the afternoons) so please be prepared.
