My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dog Name: CHIKIS
Age: 3 years
Location: Tlajomulco, Jalisco
Gender: Male
Weight: 4.250 kilos / 9.36 pounds
Best mix: Chihuahua
Size: Small
Color: Beige
Spayed/Neutered? Yes
Vaccinated? Yes
Heartworm Negative? Yes
Energy level: Medium.
Good with dogs? Yes
Good with kids? Yes
Good with cats? Yes, with a controlled introduction
Food jealous? No
Good in a car? Yes
Does the dog bark a lot? Chikis is good at alerting when he senses someone or something.
Crate trained? Yes
Leash etiquette? Good
Potty trained? Yes, Chikis keeps his space clean and is good with routines.
Where does the dog stay when it is alone? Chikis has been living with other rescued dogs and
shares spaces with them, but has a habit of finding somewhere to be alone when he feels like it.
Where does the dog sleep? Inside on his blanket.
Temperament/Personality: Chikis is independent and outgoing, happy to be introduced to new
places and people. Over the past two years, he has lived in a foster home with other dogs,
which has helped him become comfortable with changes in his environment and quick to make
friends. He is very smart and affectionate, enjoying both exploring on walks and playing at
home.
Chikis would do well as a second dog, as he brings a positive balance to the mix.
Please note that small breeds are brave and protective of their humans, often behaving like
larger dogs. Therefore, proper precautions are needed when encountering unfamiliar or reactive
dogs that could harm them due to their size.
What does the dog's ideal home look like? The ideal home for Chikis would be an apartment or
a house with proper safety measures, as small breeds are quite agile and can easily escape. He
would thrive with a person or family who loves small dogs, as they make excellent companions
and can tag along wherever you go. Ideally, he should be placed in a home with young adults or
children who are taught proper handling techniques, as small dogs are susceptible to injuries
from rough handling.
What is the dog's rescue story? Chikis was rescued from the streets outside of Guadalajara in
2022.
Until someone is committed to adopting him or taking him on a trial, he is waiting in Mexico. If
you are interested, apply at www.northwestwagrescue.org. His adoption fee is $600.
Are you looking for a small, loveable pup who is happy to tag along on grocery runs, walk the
neighborhood, and snuggle under the warmth of blankets? Chikis is a sweet, young chihuahua
with a sharp mind and a strong social battery. Rescued from the streets outside of Guadalajara,
he has spent the past two years with a foster family learning how to make friends with other
dogs and get his blanket just right. Chikis is a quick learner who is good at learning routines and
likes to explore, making him a great companion for walks and trips. Even though he’s small, he
has a big heart that’s happy to make new friends and is waiting express itself to his forever family.
