My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Kashmere, our 2 year old sneaky, sassy, shy sweetie pie!! She loves loafing up under the cat tree, or whatever new hiding spot she can find, and snuggling on fuzzy blankets. She is great for someone who would like a buddy but doesn’t mind alone time every now and then. Kash is a looonnnnggg kitty and when she finally stretches out you will catch her on sneaky little adventures!! She has a grumpy face, but will gladly accept and give lots of love once she warms up to you. You will find her in every crevice of her home, and she’s an expert at hide and seek - we once caught her on top of the fridge! She loves to give out a little hiss, but only ever out of fear, and is a real lover at heart. Kashmere is a shy girl - we call her our Scaredy Kash, and gets along well with other cats. Her purrs are secret and low and she loveeessss pets, especially right behind her ears. If she’s able to get the space to be her full self, she is a true sour patch kitty - first she’s sour, then she’s sweet! (but never spicy).

This cat can be adopted with a friend or as a single cat (but would likely prefer to be the only cat in the home).

More about this rescue

Our rescue group was formed in December 2007, but all our Board Members have had extensive experience rescuing and working with abandoned animals. We often work with other rescue organizations to find appropriate and safe foster and adoptive homes for our pet clients. We regularly go to areas with abandoned animals and collect them. The animals are taken to a licensed veterinarian examined, treated and spayed or neutered. Every effort is made to work with the animal and our foster and adoptive families to find a suitable forever home.

For those animals who are truly wild and feral, we release the animal in a safe and secure location after it has recovered from its medical treatment. We also work with certified wildlife rehabilitators to rescue injured and orphaned wildlife. Our organization is focused on improving the welfare of the abandoned animals in need of help in Brooklyn. In furthering that goal, our resources are focused on the animals.

Aside from a few minimal overhead costs such as our website and phone services, our entire budget is spent on animal care such as medical and food costs.
