My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Whitney

Breed: Domestic Short Hair
Gender: female, spayed
Age: 8-10 years old
Weight: 6 pounds
Adoption fee: has been covered

Whitney is really a hoot! She isn't really a lap cat, but she does enjoy communing with her people. She has also discovered cat videos and is hooked! There isn't a safe mouse, bird, or squirrel on the screen! She has also inspected the video device and determined the creatures just disappear! Wow!

Whitney has also started playing with toys and, once, helped her family with a small rodent intruder! She's handy, she's sweet, and she's ready for a good time!

We think Whitney would enjoy an older home that doesn't have a lot going on in terms of visitors, but with folks who enjoy a cat for company and showing her a good time!

Whitney is up to date on vaccinations and tested negative for FIV/FeLV.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

If you find a dog or cat in which you are interested, please email us for an adoption application! This is how our adoption process begins! Our organization is made up of volunteers who work full time jobs when not doing rescue. We generally have access to our email throughout the day, but not the phone, so please email for quickest response! Because we are at work, we cannot always answer you right away. Please give us time!

You can also fill out an application to be pre-approved to adopt, if you don't see a particular breed and/or dog of interest on our site. Once approved, HEART will hold your application for three months and contact you when a dog or cat enters our program that we believe might be a good match for your family.

It takes about a week to ten days to process an application, depending on the time available to our volunteers and how quickly references call back. If we must ask for information not included in the application, or we discover information not addressed in the application, the process does get bogged down and may take longer.

Our adoption fees vary depending on the type of animal of interest. Generally, cats are between $95 and $115. Dogs tend to be between $150 and $225.

More about this rescue

We are a nonprofit, all volunteer, limited admission rescue organization funded by private donations. We are committed to responsiblly re-homing homeless and unwanted dogs and cats.

We are a limited admissions rescue. We can only take in as many animals as our foster homes can safely and responsibly care for. We do not euthanize animals to make room for more. We simply stop taking in new animals until we have room. Each homeless companion animal will remain in our care until he or she finds a new home.
