Meet Max – A Distinguished Gentleman Seeking His Forever Home
Max is a charming older gentleman who has spent the last five years in a loving home but recently found himself back with us due to a divorce. Through it all, Max remains the best boy, winning hearts with his gentle and tolerant nature.
Max has been a devoted family member, helping raise his baby human brother and even teaching him how to walk! He’s wonderfully patient with people of all ages and is unbothered by the cats who joined his previous household later in life.
When you meet Max, you’ll definitely get those sweet “old man” vibes—but don’t let that fool you! He’s still spry enough to clear a baby gate and has a knack for counter surfing, so securing your food and investing in a locking-lid garbage can is a must. He has a soft spot for all things edible, especially if they’re in a trash can!
Max isn’t asking for much—just a quiet place to spend his golden years. He’d be perfectly content with a leisurely walk each day, a cozy bed to curl up on, and a family to snuggle with.
If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion to share life’s quiet moments, Max might just be the perfect fit.
If you would like to meet Max, please submit an application for him on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. He is neutered, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. His adoption fee is $250, which helps cover the cost of the medical care he has received.
**Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.

We are a nonprofit, no-kill animal shelter comprised mostly of volunteers. We take in cats and dogs from local shelters and the public who can no longer care for their pets. Each of the volunteers at FMAR has a tremendous amount of love for animals and simply wants to do what they can to ensure that as many animals as possible find a forever home. Until then, each animal has a home at FMAR indefinitely.
