Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Meet Buddy, a sweet and gentle 6-year-old Beagle/Foxhound mix weighing 46 lbs. Buddy is a well-mannered companion who is both house and crate trained, making him a great fit for a low-maintenance home. He knows basic commands like sit and shake, and is highly treat-motivated, which makes him eager to learn and please.
Buddy is a bit on the timid side when meeting new people, so he would thrive best in a quiet home where he can take his time warming up to new faces. He is listed as "No Small Children" due to his shy nature, as loud or quick movements can startle him. However, once he feels comfortable and trusts you, Buddy is incredibly affectionate and will shower you with love. His calm demeanor and low to medium energy level make him a perfect couch or bed buddy, and he’s content to lounge and snuggle once he’s settled in.
Buddy enjoys walks and does well on a leash with just mild pulling—easily manageable—and he’s always up for an adventure with his trusty hound nose. Exploring is one of his favorite things, as he loves using his sniffer to take in all the wonderful scents around him.
It’s important to note that Buddy needs to go to a cat-free home, as he has a strong instinct to chase them.
If you're looking for a loving, low-maintenance companion who will reward your patience and kindness with lots of affection, Buddy may be the perfect fit for you!
As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines.
To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!
