Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Meet Buddy! This lovable hound is looking for his forever home, and with a little patience, he’ll become your loyal adventure buddy. While Buddy can be a bit avoidant in the shelter environment, it's clear he has a history of being a beloved family dog. Once he feels comfortable, he’ll gently take treats from your hand and even allow pets. His true personality shines through once he’s settled into a home.
Buddy has a curious, adventurous spirit and absolutely loves to use his nose to explore the world around him. He’d make an excellent companion for someone who enjoys outdoor activities, such as hiking and exploring, and is looking for a dog who can keep up with their sense of adventure. While Buddy enjoys exploring, he’s not overly energetic and is perfectly content to enjoy his surroundings at a more relaxed pace. Buddy is already showing signs of being housetrained, which makes him an even more appealing addition to a home. He walks reasonably well on a leash, though there’s some mild pulling, so he’d benefit from some gentle leash training.
One thing to keep in mind: Buddy needs a cat-free home, as he has a strong instinct to chase them. He may struggle to show his true self in the shelter setting, but with some time, love, and patience, Buddy will thrive in a peaceful home where he can feel safe and loved. If you’re looking for a loyal companion to explore the outdoors with and share a relaxed, happy life, Buddy may just be the perfect fit for you!
As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines.
To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!
