My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Delilah is a shy and adorable border collie mix that came to Murci's Mission from a local family overwhelmed with intact dogs and puppies. In the process of getting everyone set up for spay neuter, we were able to welcome Delilah into MM for the purpose of adoption. She has a known birthdate of 08/16/2024.

Delilah is somewhat behind on social milestones, but she's still determined to thrive, quickly making friends and sorting out new situations without too much strife. She is crate trained and leash trained, and she's well on her way to being house trained. Delilah would make a great addition to any family with room in the home and heart for a young active dog. She needs to be held accountable to continue to grow socially and is a very poor candidate for coddling which could produce a more fearful adult dog. Give her a chance to be a dog and let her absolutely thrive!

Delilah is being fostered in Western WA, but is still eligible for adoption anywhere in PNW and beyond. She comes spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and dewormed. Her adoption fee is $300 and includes her leash, collar, ID tag, and sample of the food she's been eating, and her medical records. Adopters in the Spokane area can expect to meet the pet during the homecheck. Others will arrange a meet and greet.

Once your application has been received, we will evaluate it as a potential match for the given animal and, if your application is selected, we will proceed to call your references and then conclude with a home check and meet and greet scheduled by you at your home. For applicants out of area, the home check may be conducted via video call before the meet and greet.

More about this rescue

From the day we could talk we told our pets more than we ever told our parents. We took the long route to see the kitty in the window down the street. We stopped even when we were late to pet the dog. We grew up and we saw what the world does to those who can't defend themselves. We are here to change that.

Ethical rescue, including fully vetting every animal and carefully placing them all into homes matched to their physical and mental needs is what we do.

Respecting all life, both animal and human, while retaining an underlying goal of keeping animals in their homes. and fostering a sense of community between local shelters and rescues is how we do it.
