My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hola! My name is CHATA and here is some info about me:

PHYSICAL INFO:

  • Breed: Staffie Mix

  • Age: 8 years

  • Gender: Female

  • Weight: 55lbs (24.9 kg)

  • Height: 54 cm (paws to top of my head)

  • Length: 73 cm (head to butt)

  • Current Location: CHILLIWACK, BC!

RESCUE STORY - I was rescued from the streets of Chimahuacán, Mexico along with my litter of 7 puppies. I was just 2 years old at the time. While all of my puppies were adopted and found their forever homes, I spent over 5 years in the shelter in Mexico City. I waited patiently for my opportunity to arise, and I finally got it! I flew to Vancouver on January 8th, 2025 and I am currently living in Chilliwack, BC. Unfortunately, while I was happy socializing with the cats in Mexico, I have not gotten along well with one of my feline foster siblings in Canada so I am looking for a cat-free home. Here I am at my foster home in Canada

TEMPERAMENT - My rescuer describes me as “extremely noble” and “a dog like an angel”. I was a natural caretaker and very maternal with the puppies at the shelter. I live well with dogs of all sizes and I am good with children too! My current foster family describes me as trainable and super sweet. I love affection and love people... when I came out of my crate at the airport, the first thing I did was flip on my back and wait for belly rubs!! I know that I will be an amazing dog for a loving home!

ENERGY LEVEL - Low - I am very calm and, despite my hard life, I am not afraid of anything. I equally love going for walkies and basking in the sun! Here I am playing ball.

GETS ALONG WITH:

  • Kids – Yes. Video 1, Video 2, Video 3, Video 4

  • Dogs –  Yes. I get along with dogs of all sizes in the shelter. My best friend’s name is Woody and we loved to play and sleep together in Mexico. Video 1, Video 2, Video 3

  • Cats – No. Although I did fine with cats in Mexico, I haven't gotten along well with my feline sibling in Canada. It would be best for me to be in a home without cats.

PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.

TRAINING:

  • Leash skills – Work in progress. I will need an adopter who is happy to work with me on my leash manners. A well-fitted harness and some dedicated leash training will help set me up for success! Here I am on a walk!

  • House trained – I have done very well in my foster home! I havent had any accidents and I have been asking to go outside. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help set me up for further success :)

Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.

HEALTH NOTES:

  • I am spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. I have proof of all my vaccines and test records.

  • I tested negative for Heartworm etc. when I flew from Mexico on January 8th, 2025.

  • NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.

ADOPTION FEE:

  • My adoption fee is $508.00 CAD including taxes (5% GST, 7% PST).

The info included in each WCP bio is provided to us from the international rescuer. WCP does not have in-person access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions, although we ask for video proof of a dog's attributes wherever possible. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person(s) adopting them and the environment in which they live.

WCP is unable to guarantee the accuracy of a dogs age and/or breed. These are strictly "best guesses" based on veterinary exams and their educated estimates.
