My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How Luna arrived:
Luna was brought in by her previous owner on 1/8/25.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Luna! Luna was rehomed into our care in January 2025 due to her tendency to escape when left unattended in a yard. She has a history of being mostly an outdoor dog and is known to jump over or dig under fences. Luna's previous owner reported that she does well in a crate and has tolerated handling well during her time with us.

When it comes to other animals, Luna shows resource-guarding tendencies, growling or lip-lifting when her food is approached. She has no history with cats while in our care, but her previous owner reported signs of aggression when visualizing cats. For dogs, she was reported to play well with others, though any introductions should be managed carefully.

Luna previously lived with children aged 6, 13, and 17, and was described as excited and a bit jumpy around them. Her interactions with kids, dogs, and cats should be carefully evaluated and monitored based on her unique needs.

Luna would thrive with a dedicated owner who can help her adapt to a more structured environment while giving her the love and care she deserves

At SDHS:
This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. Luna is now ready for her new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
