My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Fence Yard Required, Wants to be an only dog.

No children due to rambunctious play.

Meet Caboose, AKA Boose, a resilient 4-year-old English Bull Terrier with a heart full of potential and a story that will melt yours. Rescued from a neglectful breeder situation, Caboose is experiencing the warmth and love of a home for the first time.

Physically, Caboose is on the mend. He endured trauma to his muzzle, but soft baby hairs are beginning to grow back, and the pressure sores and urine burns on his back end are healing beautifully. Emotionally, he’s made incredible strides but still needs someone patient and compassionate to guide him as he learns what it means to feel safe and loved.

Everyday household items can be intimidating for Caboose, as his previous life was spent outdoors chained to a tree or confined to a crate in a barn. He’s improving with potty training and is happy to wear a belly band inside to prevent accidents as he gets the hang of home life.

True to his Bull Terrier nature, Caboose has a playful side that will make you smile. He’s full of puppy-like energy, complete with rambunctious play, bucking bronco moves, and the playful nibbles his breed is known for.  These are all the traits we love about bull terriers, but they do require some training through positive reinforcement to establish boundaries.

Caboose is looking for a special person to take him under their wing and show him that life is good, that he is safe, and that he’ll never have to face uncertainty again. If you have the patience to help this boy heal and the heart to love him unconditionally, Caboose is ready to begin his new chapter with you.

If you are interested, complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO.

More about this rescue

Needy Paws Rescue, located in St. Louis, MO, is devoted to saving animals in need, whose lives are in danger at high kill animal shelters & animal controls, those who are strays, have been abandoned or whose family has faced an extreme emergency, regardless of their size or breed.

Our organization is made up of Volunteers who have been involved in various animal rescues in the St. Louis area and we plan to use our knowledge & experience to make a difference. We believe spaying & neutering is a very important step in keeping pets healthy & happy, plus it helps decrease overpopulation. All of our rescued animals will be spayed or neutered, they will be microchipped to ensure they are identifiable if lost or stolen and they will be current on all of their vaccinations before going to their Forever Homes.

We are foster-based and all pets stay in approved Foster Homes that have passed inspections, reference checks and are qualified to take care of our rescued animals while they wait for their Forever Family. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will be making home visits and conducting veterinarian checks & reference checks to ensure the pets will have a safe, loving, happy home. Forever Families will be taught how to care for their pet and learn how to get the most out of their relationship with their new family member. We also have an after-care specialist who will be in contact with the families after the adoption to see how well they're doing together
