Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
BACKGROUND: Papi was living by a marina for several years, getting picked on by more aggressive cats and even letting kittens push him out of the way to get the food provided by a man who watched over the community. When a local rescuer started to help get them spayed and neutered, Papi was one of the ones found to be people-friendly. Wanting a better life for him, she asked The Rescue House if we could give him a helping hand.
PERSONALITY: Papi is a gentle giant and a couch pumpkin. This big boy embodies sweet and mellow. He may be quite the armful when you’re holding him, but you can shower him with pets and kisses! He especially likes a good brushing or focused scritches on the side of his face and the base of his tail (he’s also one of those cats who likes when you pat-a-pat-pat a soft drumbeat on his rear end). Papi can be reserved in a new situation, and will drop his head and try to bury it under a blanket or pillow like an ostrich; as he relaxes, he’ll happily accept affection. Papi is admittedly not that keen on the idea of exercise though he could certainly benefit from it: he’ll watch intriguing wand toys but doesn’t put much effort into catching them. He’s more proactive with his cardboard scratcher. What he likes best is warm sunshine, and you’ll often find him seeking out cozy sunspots when they’re available; once they move out of reach, he’ll get a bite to eat and then rest in his favorite big comfy chair or sleep next to you while you watch a movie -- his little snores are so endearing!
COMPATIBILITY: Papi likes a relaxed groove in all of his interactions. He has made friends with cats who are mellow and low-key like him. If cat-savvy dogs aren’t too active and hyper he feels the same. We think he could do well with calm gentle children.
Body and spirit, there’s so much to love about Papi! Will he win your heart?
While healthy, Papi has tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). This is a type of virus that typically causes some weakening of a cat’s immune system. It is a cat-only virus and cannot be spread through casual friendly contact between cats. FIV+ cats can and do live quite normal lives in quality, duration, and happiness. A good informat
