My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hey there. I'm Dwayne. I'm a bit older but don't let the number fool you. I'm still very spry. I'm very cute and happy-go-lucky. I'm also pretty sassy, but in the cutest way possible. I know how to sit and how to shake. I also know how to remind you to hurry up if you're taking too long with my treats! Other than that, I'm pretty laidback. I really enjoy hanging out with my human, preferably on a couch. I love cuddling on couches!

Our animals are available at our facility on a first come first served basis. While very rare, occasional exceptions are made for livestock and animals receiving significant inquiry due to specific breed demands.

More about this shelter

Norman Animal Welfare is a municipal shelter operated and funded by the City of Norman, Oklahoma. In addition to providing a safe environment for our adoptable animals we also are responsible for the enforcement of all animal related laws within the City of Norman and holding all stray animals that are located. In addition to these main roles, we also provide public microchipping, city pet licensing, and other educational services to our community.
We average approximately 3,400 animals in and out of our facility each year. We have an amazing facility that fully opened in 2016. We operate daily with a very limited staff supported by several amazing volunteers. We operate an active foster program and are always seeking to work with those in our community interested in assisting us in our mission.
