My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*** AVAILABLE ON-SITE STARTING THURSDAY 1/16 ***
Hearts is a very sweet-natured, gentle dog with a heart of gold. She is house-trained and has excellent house manners. She never chewed on anything she shouldn’t in her foster home, or had an accident in the house. She lets her people know when she needs to go out by going to the door or whining. Her foster family found it unnecessary to crate her when they went out for 2 – 3 hours. She had the “run of the house’ and proved herself to be trustworthy. Hearts sleeps quietly in her crate all night, and waits patiently to be greeted in the morning and let out.

Hearts loves to be near her people, curled up on the floor resting her head on your feet, or lying right next to you on the couch. She adores head scratches. Hearts is sometimes cautious when meeting new people, but once she gets to know you, she will prove herself to be the most loving and loyal companion you could ever want.

Hearts is a very playful dog. She got along great with other dogs in her foster home, and would probably love to have a doggy playmate. She enjoys chasing a ball in the yard, loves stuffed squeaky toys, and occasionally enjoys chewing on a Benebone. She likes to nap in a sunny spot and enjoys curling up in a comfy dog bed. Hearts walks very nicely on a leash with a front clip dog harness (unless one of those pesky squirrels cross her path). Hearts absolutely loves taking walks in the neighborhood and would come running when she saw her harness and leash come out. She has plenty of stamina for long walks, and would be a great hiking buddy.

Hearts can obey several commands like “sit” and “down” (lay down). She is working on “sit” combined with “stay” before eating a meal. Hearts is a smart girl and very food-motivated, which makes it likely that she will be able to pick up quickly on commands she is taught.

Hearts is a super-sweet, low maintenance dog who is so eager to be a part of a loving family. Make an appointment to meet Hearts today and see if she might be the perfect fit for your family. That adorable scruffy face and those soulful eyes just may steal your heart away!

Additional adoption info

All puppies and dogs at Saving Grace are crate trained, have been spayed/neutered, are up to date on their vaccines, are on heartworm preventative and have been microchipped. Their adoption fee is $350.00. Each has been carefully screened for disposition and temperament in order to provide your home with a safe companion that will enjoy life as your new family member.

If you are interested in meeting one of our dogs, please complete an Adoption Application at our website: savinggracenc.org

Sending an Application does not commit you to an adoption, it simply provides us with background information on potential homes. Please review our Adoption Contract before sending an Application to ensure that you will be able to provide the requirements stated in the contract. The Contract must be signed at the time of adoption.

Saving Grace is a small, non-profit 501-C3 organization operated by volunteers only. Most of our animals come from rural animal control shelters where lack of space and resources limit their time and adoption possibilities. Thank you for choosing Saving Grace! We look forward to helping you find your new companion and family member.

More about this rescue

Located in central North Carolina and officially established in 2004, Saving Grace has placed over 15,000 dogs into homes since its inception. These dogs were from rural animal control facilities with little resources and who would otherwise not had the opportunity to receive necessary veterinary care and a chance at adoption. While we have grown significantly over the years and have been successful growing our numbers we still see many great dogs miss the opportunity of adoption.

We have a large variety of dogs varying in breed, size, shape, age and needs and would love to work with you to find you a great dog companion while providing a dog in need with a loving home. Our dogs are chosen based on temperament and socialization. We get some of the most charming, unique mix breeds as well as some striking purebreds. Our dogs come from rural, underserved areas and while they may have little experience as an indoor family member, they have the temperament and personality that is sure to bring much love and appreciation to their new home. Most have started their crate training while in our program. Veterinary care including spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm test, vaccinations, monthly preventatives are provided prior to each adoption. If you would like more information about adopting one of our dogs, please email savinggrace@savinggracenc.org
