My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet the cutest bundle of joy - Gizmo!

Gizmo is estimated to be about a year old and he is oh-so-ready to be your new BFF. Gizmo is the type of dog that everyone instantly falls in love with and we have all fallen head over heels in love with him. He's affectionate, goofy, cuddly, and social. What more can you ask for? He would thrive in a home where he would get lots of attention and not have to be alone often. Gizmo is fully grown and weighs just under 20lbs.

Gizmo came to us after a dog groomer found him wandering on the streets with a fractured leg. She was able to connect with our partners, the UC Davis Fracture Program, and together we were able to get him the care he needed and a foster home to recover in. Gizmo is all healed up and just got the all-clear from his surgeons that he is ready for adoption!

Gizmo is such a little lovebug and he loves nothing more than cuddling with his foster parents. Up until this point, he has been on restricted activity, but he has shown to have a pretty mellow personality. Now and then he will get bursts of energy and will find a toy to romp around with. Gizmo is a well-mannered guy who knows his basic manners but would benefit from continued training to help him be the best boy he can be. He enjoys his leisurely walks and seems like he would be a great buddy to bring along for adventures around town.

Gizmo has done well with the dogs he has met and is respectful of the senior dog in his foster home. He could enjoy having a buddy his size to play with, but he also wouldn't mind being your spoiled-only dog. Gizmo has done well living with a cat with a slow introduction and proper supervision. Gizmo seems like he would be a wonderful family dog for a family with kids 7 years and older.

Gizmo is housetrained in his foster home, but his new family should expect accidents while he is adjusting to a new routine and environment. He isn't the biggest fan of his crate, but he is content to hang out in there when home alone and overnight. He also would love if he could sleep in bed with you. Gizmo has done well being left for short periods but would do best with a family who doesn't have to leave him home often or for long since he loves to be with his humans.

**Due to being a pug mix, Gizmo could be prone to medical conditions like back and joint issues. His new family should be prepared to take on any medical expenses that may arise in the future.**

Gizmo is such a loveable boy and he deserves a family just as great as him. If you think that might be you, submit an adoption application today!

Gizmo's adoption fee is $500.

The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes.

Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption.
