My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Cricket, the petite white and gray boxer mix. Cricket came into the Shelter as an owner surrender. Cricket lived in a home with a woman and another dog. Her favorite things to do in the previous home are snuggle, play and run.

Cricket is currently hanging out in a foster home to take a break from the Shelter and gain some confidence. Her foster reports: “Cricket is a wonderful, sweet dog. She is smart, a quick learner, and human-focused, On leash, she likes to walk in the city or on trails and generally doesn`t pull. She likes to play and have fun, and is able to settle and cuddle by your side. She notices other animals, especially dogs, but doesn`t act aggressively, more it seems like she wants to play. She sleeps well in a crate at night. Overall, she is a delight!”
Due to some reported prey drive in her previous home, Cricket is required to go to a home without cats or small animals.

Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
