My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Fiona, the gray and white pibble. Fiona came into the Shelter as a stray, found near the Target in Watsonville. We don’t know about her previous home but she spent some time in a foster home so we could gather information about her in a home environment.

They reported that Fiona loves to cuddle, curl up in your lap and be petted. She was quiet in the home. She does great with positive reinforcement -within a few days she knew “sit” and “on your bed”. Fiona also learned to sit to be leashed up to go for walks and walked well on leash with minimal pulling (unless a chicken or cat was in sight). The fosters did observe that she is a bit too interested in cats and chickens so a home free of those would likely be the best. She slept through the night on her bed in the living room with no issues. She seems to be potty trained – only one accident which seemed to be related to a bit of stomach upset after a change in diet. Fiona was extremely gentle when seeking affection or taking treats/toys. She enjoyed a variety of toys in the home and would chase them, chew on them and squeak them. After some periods of play – she would go to snooze in sun spots and/or quietly watch people in the home. The foster parents slowly worked up to leaving her in the home for 40 minutes with a yummy kong and she did great! Overall – Fiona was described as a total sweetheart who seems highly trainable and just wants to please her people.

Fiona’s adoption fee has been sponsored by a generous donor.

Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
