My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Frank is seriously one of the sweetest cats. He has never swatted or snapped at his foster mom! He will eat any food given to him, he is not picky at all. He seems to be fine with all kinds of easygoing furry friends. Frank is not much of a climber, and likes a low cat scratcher-tree to hang out in. He is not really a fan of being held but just wiggles to be put down, and he loves belly rubs.

Frank has a grade IV-V/VI heart murmur and hyperthyroidism, but takes his meds for both conditions fairly easily. Our hope is that with his thyroid getting under control that his heart murmur will lessen, but only time will tell. We will be doing an echocardiogram in the spring to check progress.

Their adoption process

1.

Visit the Facility and Find a Pet

We require that all members of the family meet the pet, and then if all parties (including our counselors) agree, we will proceed

2.

Interview

We also typically don't do same-day adoptions - we find that asking families to "sleep on it" leads to a much better fit!

3.

Submit Application

We have forms to fill out, and then the adoption fee (paid by cash or check only) and your new family member can be on their way home.

Additional adoption info

Phone and in-person interviews and meet and greet with the prospective adopter(s), require all parties fro the household to be participating and present for interviews, adoption fees vary depending on animal history and needs. Final determination made in the best interest of the adopter and animal, after time spent contemplating on both ends of the adoption process (both adoption counselor and adopter). We do not do same-day adoptions to ensure that the environment is best for both family and pet, and adopters are educated about this policy as well.

Go meet their pets

We are at the Downers Grove PetSmart (1550 S. Butterfield Rd., Downers Grove IL) and are doing meet & greets and adoptions by appointment, though you can come in any time to see our cats ready for adoption. All of our cats ready for forever are also listed on our website here: https://www.chicagolandanimalrescue.org/adoption. Please contact us through our website to set up a time to spend some one-on-one interaction time with our cats.

More about this rescue

We are an all-volunteer foster home rescue. We rescue abandoned and unwanted cats from family relinquish situations, shelters, animal controls, and veterinarians.

Our cats are examined by a veterinarian, blood tested, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and parasite tested/treated. Adopters are provided with medical records, a rabies certificate, and information to help introduce the cat to their home. We also provide information about the cat that we have learned through foster and daily interaction by our volunteers.
